Alcoholics Anonymous NSW Area D

INFORMATION SHEET

FOR GROUPS IN AREA D

AREA D COVERS WESTERN AND SOUTH WESTERN SYDNEY AND THE SOUTH COAST OF NSW

The Area D Committee would like to thank all groups that have contributed financially to area D. These contributions are used to finance our delegate’s attendance at the National Conference.

Our committee is currently focused on encouraging groups to register with Area D, (see attached registration form) and have groups GSR’s attend our area assemblies. A GSR is your group’s representative at an Area and District level. They are voted in at your group conscience and they link your AA group with AA as a whole. This link enables your group conscience to transmit ideas and opinions as well as facts through the GSR to the collective conscience of our whole fellowship.

Following the attendance of your Groups GSR to our area assembly we are hoping to form some further districts in Area D. Districts give us the opportunity for Public Information and other twelve step activities to be carried out in your local community.

To enable us carry out these activities your group can donate money to help us.

  • First pay your group expenses such as rent, literature, refreshments.
  • Then your group conscience must decide where to send any additional money to further the purpose of AA. If your group wishes to do this you could follow the current recommendation for Australian groups which is called the 60:30:10 plan. To do this:

60 Pay sixty percent to your local Central Service Office. Bendigo Bank account name AA Service Office, BSB 633-000 acc no. 122653389.This finances our 12th step service.

30 Pay thirty percent to National Office. ANZ Bank acc. Name General Service Board of AA Aust.   BSB 012 006   Acc. No.  9750529

10 Pay ten percent to Area D, ANZ Bank account name, Alcoholics Anonymous Area D, BSB 012-310, Acc no. 2260-43492.  This finances our delegate’s attendance at National Conference.

WHAT IS A DISTRICT?

The AA groups in a local area form one of many districts of AA in Australia. As Area D is so big we need to break the work down to more manageable levels in local Districts. Without active districts the group conscience of individual groups has no way of expressing itself in matters affecting AA as a whole, nor can it be informed of what is happening in AA as a whole.
