Alcoholics Anonymous NSW Area D

Big Books in Libraries Project

January 2009 - Did you know that out of the 71 public libraries in Area D that there are a total of 57 that do not have a copy of the Big Book on their shelves? With the help of the groups in the Area we can correct this. You or your group can help in a couple of ways:

  • your group can make a donation to the Area D Big Book Library Fund
  • You can participate by contacting and delivering a Big Book to your local library, if it is on the list below.

There are a couple of things worth considering when approaching a library about donating a copy of the Big Book.

  • The person you need to speak to is called the Acquisitions Librarian.
  • Libraries don’t accept books from religious organisations so you may need to explain that AA is not a religious organization.
  • Please liaise with Milton, the PI co-ordinator, by sending an email so we can make sure no-one doubles up on a particular library.

To see if there is a library in your local area that needs a Big Book, click on this link to display the list. We will update this list as books are supplied.

To donate to the fund you can use your Area D deposit books, or fill out a deposit slip at the bank with the following details: Area D ANZ Bank Account: Alcoholics Anonymous Area D BSB 012-310 Acc no. 2260-43492.

Or you can direct deposit using internet banking. Please use your group name + big book in the reference field (ie Ashfield Big Book) so we know who has donated the money or send an email to areadweb@gmail and let us know.

We will publish updates of who has contributed to this effort in the next newsletter and will keep a live record on the website. Thanks in advance for your help with this initiative.
